Demi Lovato has landed on the set of Glee.
It was only days ago that Naya Rivera revealed that the 21-year-old pop star would appear as her lesbian lover on the popular Fox TV series, and Thursday marked her very first day of filming.
Naya posted a ‘selfie’ of herself and Demi on set, and alongside it she coined the phrase ‘dantana’, bringing together the pair’s character names as they gear up audiences for the impending love affair.
In the behind-the-scenes snap, Demi and Naya wear matching red button-ups cute stud earrings.
The Give Your Heart A Break singer can be seen blowing the camera a kiss, whilst the taller brunette actress flashes a smile.
It seems Demi has spent the week readying herself for her return to acting.
She excitedly told her Twitter followers on Wednesday: ‘About to start rehearsals for day 2 of Glee!! Love this set!!’
Love interest: Demi Lovato, left, is to play Naya Rivera’s lover on the new season of Glee
Earlier in the week, Demi took to Twitter to shared her excitement, tweeting: ‘Wayyyyy too excited to be starting @GLEE this week!!!!!!!
‘I can’t believe I’m going back to acting but the best part about it is that I get to act/sing with some of my really great friends.’
And her friend Naya was equally thrilled, tweeting: ‘So excited for @ddlovato to join our cast! Wonder what we’ll get up to in NYC!’
Naya confirmed the rumours as she arrived for the MTV VMAs on Sunday, adding that the pair will be singing together.
‘I mean, she’s playing my love interest, so I’m very, very excited about that,’ she told MTV.
‘I’m excited to work with her. We’re bringing her to the dark side.
‘Well, she comes in in a Beatles episode, so [we’re singing] a Beatles song. I’m excited.’
And sources told TVLine that Demi will not just be on Season 5 for one episode.
TVLine reports: ‘Lovato will play Dani, a NYC-based struggling artist friend of Rachel [played by Lea Michele] and Santana [Naya Rivera].’
According to the site, fans will get to see Demi in at least six episodes, beginning with the second part of the show’s Beatles’ tribute, airing October 3.
Demi has a close relationship with Glee’s Lea Michele already and recently came out in support of Lea’s boyfriend the late Cory Montieth who died of a drug overdose July 13.
The singer – who has admitted to using illegal substances herself – made an emotional plea for fans to not let the Glee star’s death from a heroin and alcohol overdose be in vain.
The X Factor judge told People: ‘All it takes is one moment of vulnerability to get slipped into your addiction.
‘It’s not a choice. Nobody chooses to use. He didn’t choose to die. It was the disease.
‘It can creep up on you at any moment. It only takes one moment of relapse to potentially die. It’s really scary, but I’m really hoping that from this, people are able to see this is a very, very, very dangerous disease.’
